There are three main ways the Pulse3 Foundation (formerly MCVI Foundation) helps people.
Living: An ounce of prevention being worth a pound of cure, we have a variety of programs and initiatives to help people maintain healthy lifestyles and prevent cardiovascular disease. They include:
Run for Your Heart, a fitness and wellness training program and community race
PowerPlay Saturday, a fun program that helps children learn healthy habits
Screenings for eligible at-risk adults
Grants that help fund programs and activities that lead to healthier lifestyles and lowered risk of cardiovascular disease
Learning: The more we know about cardiovascular disease, the more we can prevent it — and the better we can treat it. To help advance prevention and treatment, Pulse3 Foundation (formerly MCVI Foundation) offers a number of educational initiatives, including:
training in CPR and the use of automatic external defibrillators (AEDs)
continuing education programs for healthcare professionals
community education programs to help build healthier lifestyles
scholarships for those planning a career in cardiovascular care
Lifesaving: Too many people die from cardiovascular disease because people do not know, or are not equipped, to help them. Our goal is to turn bystanders into lifesavers, through such initiatives as:
Training programs in CPR and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use for individuals, businesses and organizations
A program to place AEDs in schools and nonprofit institutions
Shocks and Saves®, an annual benefit hockey game whose proceeds are used to fund lifesaving equipment and programs such as AEDs, an AED registry system and free CPR training
